What is a electrical tension insulator also known as?
The power polymer insulator is commonly referred to as a tension insulator, and it is also known as a "Suspension Insulator." These silicone rubber insulators are specifically designed to endure the mechanical tension forces resulting from the weight and stress of overhead power lines.

An insulator is used to support overhead line conductors on poles and to prevent the flow of electric current to the ground. In transmission systems, insulators play a critical role in ensuring safe and reliable operation. Insulators can be manufactured from various materials, including rubber, wood, plastic, and mica. However, materials commonly used in electrical power systems include glass, ceramic, PVC, steatite, and polymer. Among these, porcelain is the most widely used, while special compositions such as steatite and glass are also applied for specific requirements. manufacturing technique
1) The molding process for the umbrella sleeve has largely shifted from the original extrusion and stringing process to a segmented, integral injection molding process, reducing the interface area and improving operational reliability.
2) Many domestic manufacturers have adopted gapless displacement-type crimping technology with a sound-controlled system, making crimping more reliable and ensuring stable strength. Currently, the tensile strength of suspension composite insulators from major domestic manufacturers generally reaches 1.3 to 1.5 times the rated strength.
3) High-performance adhesives are used for the core rod and silicone coupling, continuously improving interface adhesion. This ensures that the leakage current in the water diffusion test of the sheathed core rod is controlled below 100μA.
4) To prevent eccentricity during injection, core rod top pin structures are used on the left and right sides of the mold to control vertical eccentricity, and synchronous brackets are installed on the mold to control vertical eccentricity as well. A portable ultrasonic non-destructive thickness gauge is also used to detect the sheath thickness, ensuring that the product sheath meets standard requirements.

End Sealing Structure
Many manufacturers currently employ a double-seal structure, both internal and external, to effectively protect the ends from moisture erosion and prevent brittle fracture of the mandrel. Due to the use of a high-temperature sheath at the ends, its resistance to electrolytic aging is significantly improved compared to room-temperature adhesives when corona discharge occurs.
