In the early days of composite insulators, China's power operation department was cautious about using polymer insulators on 500 kV transmission lines, and placed particular emphasis on operating experience. Therefore, several batches of polymeric electrical insulators were imported from composite insulator manufacturers in the United States, Germany and other countries for grid operation, and domestically made 500 kV high voltage composite insulators in China were also put into grid operation one after another. After more than a decade of testing, operational practice has shown that the quality of China's domestically produced high voltage composite insulators is not inferior to that of imported ones.
