The 230-kilovolt northern power grid project was put into operation in Laos, setting a new benchmark for power construction in Laos. During the construction of the No. 1 hydropower station on the Nanta River in Laos, 11 resettlement sites and nearly 10,000 migrants were built, greatly improving the lives of local people. In March this year, China Southern Power Grid Corporation and the Lao National Power Company officially signed an agreement on the purchase and sale of electricity for the 115 kilovolt China-Laos Network project. The agreement will send surplus hydropower from Laos to China during flood season, and China will provide supplementary power supply to northern Laos during dry season, so as to realize power complementarization between the two countries. In June, two-way electricity trade between China and Laos was realized for the first time, officially opening a new chapter in electricity trade based on surplus and shortage. By the end of October, two-way electricity trade between China and Laos reached 84 million KWH.
In October this year, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the development rights of the clean Energy Base Project in Laos was held in Vientiane, Laos. According to the agreement, Edra Power Holdings Co., LTD., which is jointly held by China Southern Power Grid Corp and China General Nuclear Power Corporation, will carry out in-depth cooperation with the Lao government in the energy sector and build a clean energy demonstration base for integrated scenic water storage in northern Laos, as an important support project for the power connectivity between China and Laos.
