AC 1000kV Composite Long Rod Insulator Description

Composite polymer insulators are important components used on overhead transmission lines.
The 1000 kV long-rod composite insulators produced by Wuhan Line Power are made with a fiberglass reinforced epoxy core rod and HTV silicone rubber housing. The sheds are manufactured by whole injection molding, which helps avoid interface discharge and improves the reliability of the insulator in operation.
The end fittings are hot-dip galvanized to provide good mechanical strength and corrosion resistance during long-term service.

Factory Test (FAT)

Test Standard for long rod polymer type insulators: IEC61109 Suspension and Tension insulator for AC with a nominal voltages greater than 1000V--General definition, test methods, acceptance criteria and enterprise standard.
Sample tests (Selected Randomly)
- Verification of dimensions(including structure height, arcing distance, creepage distance)

- Mechanical load-time test and test of the tightness of the interface between end fittings and insulator housing and 100% SML withstand test, 1 min

Manufacture process

The production of composite polymer insulators follows standardized workflow:
Silicone rubber compounds and other raw materials are mixed and prepared according to specified formulations.
The fiberglass core rod is cleaned and treated, then assembled with metal end fittings before further processing.
The housing and sheds are formed by whole injection molding to achieve a uniform interface and stable insulation performance.
Excess material is removed and all surfaces are checked to ensure correct shed geometry and appearance.
End fittings are crimped using controlled equipment to guarantee mechanical strength and long-term reliability.
Both routine inspection and type/sample tests are carried out in accordance with IEC 61109 for composite long-rod insulators.
Only products that fully pass inspection are allowed for packing and shipment.
Final inspection is performed after products are packaged.
Customers are welcome to participate in witness inspection and may randomly select samples from the finished lot for acceptance testing.
Wuhan Line Power will notify the client prior to key production and inspection stages to support any supervision arrangements.
Composite polymer insulators are packed based on product dimensions and voltage class:
Carton packaging for regular models
Plywood cases for export protection
Paper tubes for long-rod insulators above 230 kV
