 Measures to Improve Gas Gap Breakdown Voltage

Gas insulation gaps are often encountered in high-voltage electrical equipment. In order to reduce the size of the equipment, it is generally hoped that the insulation distance of the gap should be shortened as much as possible. For this reason, measures need to be taken to increase the breakdown voltage of the gas gap. Based on the above analysis, it can be imagined that there are no more than two ways to increase the gas breakdown voltage: on the one hand, it is to improve the electric field distribution to make it as uniform as possible; on the other hand, it is to use other methods to weaken the ionization process in the gas. There are two ways to improve the electric field distribution: one is to improve the shape of the electrode; the other is to use the effect of the space charge distortion electric field of the gas discharge itself. The following examples introduce some methods to increase the breakdown voltage of the gas gap. However, it should be noted that these measures only provide directions for solving problems. When solving engineering problems, they should be handled flexibly according to the specific circumstances in order to obtain more appropriate and specific methods.
