High Voltage Polymer Substation Insulator
Composite substation post insulators (also called composite post insulators) are composite insulating components used in substations to support high-voltage busbars/equipment and provide electrical insulation. They replace traditional porcelain posts and are widely used in 10kV and above substations.
I. Core Definition and Structure
It is a composite material insulator, mainly composed of three parts:
Core Rod: The internal load-bearing component, made of glass fiber epoxy resin, providing extremely high mechanical strength (tensile and bending resistance).
Housing/Sheds:The outer insulation layer, integrally injection molded from high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (HTV Silicone Rubber), providing primary external insulation and weather resistance.
End Fittings: Metal connectors (flanges or bolts) used for fixing to busbars, equipment, or supports.
II. Core Functions
In substations, it is mainly used for support and insulation:
Mechanical Function:Supports the weight and operating stress of high-voltage busbars, disconnectors, circuit breakers, and other equipment.
Electrical Function:Provides reliable electrical isolation between energized conductors and grounding structures (or conductors at different potentials), preventing current leakage and short circuits.
III. Key Characteristics (Advantages of Silicone Rubber Material)
Excellent Hydrophobicity: The surface is water-repellent; rainwater forms droplets and rolls off, preventing the formation of a conductive water film and providing excellent resistance to flashover.
Weather Resistance and Aging Resistance: Resistant to ultraviolet radiation, ozone, high and low temperatures, acids and alkalis, and industrial pollution, maintaining stable outdoor performance over long periods.
Lightweight: Weighing only 1/5 to 1/10 of traditional porcelain insulators, facilitating installation and transportation and reducing structural load.
Impact Resistance and Fracture Resistance: Good toughness, unlike porcelain insulators, it is not prone to cracking due to impact or thermal expansion and contraction.
Maintenance-Free or Minimal Maintenance: Excellent self-cleaning properties; no regular cleaning is required in polluted areas, significantly reducing maintenance costs.
IV. Main Application Scenarios
Specifically used for various high-voltage electrical equipment in substations/power stations:
Post Type: Supports busbars, transformers, and circuit breakers.
Crossarm Type: Used for lateral support of substation structures.
Hollow type: Used in transformers, surge arresters, circuit breaker bushings, etc.
