1, Core definition and purpose
Full name: U-shaped bolt for composite silicone rubber suspension insulator (commonly known as U-shaped screw/hanging ring in the power industry)
core function
Fix the upper end of the insulator string onto the tower crossbar/iron frame
Connecting insulator strings with ball joint hanging rings, right angle hanging plates, connecting plates and other fittings
To withstand vertical loads, horizontal wind deviation, and wire tension, ensuring that the insulator string does not fall off or shake

2, Structural composition (standard configuration)
A typical U-bolt consists of 5 parts, which are hot-dip galvanized and corrosion-resistant as a whole:
U-shaped screw: The main body is made of round steel bent into a U-shape, with threaded sections at both ends, serving as the load-bearing core
Nut: usually equipped with 4-6 hex nuts (2-3 each), used for fastening
Flat washer/spring washer: anti loosening, pressure dispersing
Closed/Open Pin: Thread into the nut pin hole to prevent the nut from loosening (critical safety component)
Pad/Pressure Plate: Some models come with a strap to increase the contact area with the crossbar and prevent crushing

3, Material and Craftsmanship (Standard for Electric Power Hardware)
Main materials: malleable cast iron (KTH), ductile iron, 45 # steel Q235, High strength alloy steel (selected according to load)
Surface treatment: Hot dip galvanizing (HDG) with a thickness of ≥ 85 μ m, ensuring outdoor corrosion resistance for more than 30 years
Open mouth pin: stainless steel, corrosion-resistant, anti brittle fracture
Strength level: According to GB/T 2314, it is divided into 35kN, 70kN, 100kN, 120kN, 160kN, 210kN, 300kN, etc., corresponding to different voltage levels and wire cross-sections

Installation direction: U-shaped opening facing downwards/outwards for easy maintenance and water accumulation prevention
Tightening requirements: Double nut anti loosening, torque standard (such as M16:80-100N · m)
Pin must be installed: the closed pin must have its opening in place, and it is strictly prohibited to miss or replace it with iron wire

Matching hardware:
Upper end: U-bolt → cross arm/connecting plate
Lower end: U-bolt → ball head hanging ring (QP/QH) → insulator string ball head
Mixing is strictly prohibited: U-bolts with different loads and voltage levels are not interchangeable
Anti corrosion inspection: If the hot-dip zinc layer is damaged, it must be repaired or replaced to prevent rusting and fracture
