What are porcelain insulators?

Porcelain insulators are insulating components of power equipment made of electrical ceramics, with the main components being high-purity alumina, zirconium oxide and other materials . Their structure consists of an iron cap, a porcelain part and a steel foot, which are assembled by cement bonding. They have the characteristics of high temperature resistance, pressure resistance and corrosion resistance, and are used for external insulation of high-voltage transmission lines and power station equipment. According to their use, they are divided into three categories: for transmission lines, for power station equipment and for other live bodies .

This type of insulator mainly includes feldspar porcelain, siliceous porcelain and alumina porcelain, which are suitable for low-voltage lines, high voltage levels and high-intensity demand scenarios respectively. In the power system, they bear the functions of conductor isolation, support and fixation, and need to meet the requirements of high mechanical strength, high insulation strength and adaptability to complex environments . The cylindrical head structure design is adopted in the field of ultra-high voltage transmission, and the performance stability is improved by optimizing the alumina formula and automatic molding process.
