ANSI ED-2B Porcelain Shackle Insulator

ANSI ED-2B Porcelain Shackle Insulator

Model :ANSI ED-2B Commonly known as butterfly insulator, line post insulator, or shackle insulator, this product is designed for low-voltage 0.4kV overhead lines and used in conjunction with D-Iron (D-type iron) clamps. It is widely exported to African and Southeast Asian markets.

Product Introduction

ANSI ED-2B Porcelain Shackle Insulator

ANSI ED-2B

Accessory Components
D-Iron (D Iron): Hot-dip galvanized, M12/M14 bolts, complete set for corner, tension, and terminal poles; conductors are secured by wrapping around the insulator groove. Alibaba.co... .
Same series: ED-1 / ED-2 / ED-2C / ED-3 / ED-4.
Standards and Customs
Complies with BS standards, referencing IEC 383-1; some customers require ANSI C29.3 (note: ED-2B is not an ANSI pin-type insulator but a BS butterfly type).
Customs HS Code: 85462010 (ceramic insulators).
Applications
Used for tension, corner, and terminal supports in low-voltage overhead lines; wire binding and slot wrapping, fixed to conductors with D-shaped iron brackets; commonly applied in overseas rural power networks and distribution upgrade projects.

Application

The ED-2B is a low-voltage 0.4 kV (400 V) overhead distribution porcelain insulator, widely used in export projects across East Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, and other African rural power grid initiatives. It is typically used in conjunction with D-Iron (D-type clamp).

Main Application Scenarios:
- Tension, corner, and terminal points on low-voltage overhead lines
- Corner poles, line ends, and branch tension sections; conductors are wrapped around the outer groove of the insulator and secured to utility poles via the D-Iron bracket. The insulator does not bear high voltage but only withstands conductor tension.
- Commonly used with aluminum stranded conductors and insulated low-voltage overhead wires.
- Rural distribution networks and urban-suburban low-voltage renovation projects
- Frequently used in African rural grid upgrades and village electrification projects; utility poles are generally concrete poles.
- Street lighting circuits and low-voltage branch lines
- Low-voltage tension fixing for street lamps and low-voltage branch lines before entering homes.
- Used in combination with other insulators:
- Straight-line poles: Typically use ED-1 or ED-2 butterfly or pin-type insulators.
- Corner, tension, and terminal poles: Preferably use ED-2B, which offers higher resistance to lateral load and is suitable for conductors under greater tension.
