Production Introduction
What is post insulation?
The post insulator plays a crucial role in overhead high-voltage transmission lines. It was initially used on poles in the early years but later became integral to supporting multiple insulators on towers to connect high-voltage lines. Its primary purpose is to increase the creepage distance. Post insulators are typically made from materials such as ceramic, porcelain, or silicone.
What is the post insulators?
The insulator is a specialized insulating component that plays a vital role in overhead transmission lines. Historically, insulators were primarily utilized on utility poles; however, they have since evolved to be suspended at the ends of tall, high-voltage transmission towers. These suspended insulators are engineered to enhance creepage distance and are typically constructed from silicone rubber or ceramic materials. In overhead transmission lines, insulators serve two primary functions: supporting the conductors and preventing electrical current from returning to the ground. It is essential that both of these functions are reliably maintained. Insulators must not fail due to flashover resulting from variations in environmental conditions or electrical load changes. A failure of an insulator can compromise its functionality and potentially jeopardize the operation and service life of the entire line.
