138kV Power Polymer Composite Tension Insulator
Working principle of composite suspension insulator Composite suspension insulator is a commonly used insulation device in power system, mainly composed of a core rod made of glass fiber or synthetic resin and a silicone rubber jacket.
In general, composite suspension insulators, through their special structure and materials, effectively achieve insulation between conductors and towers in power systems, ensuring the normal operation of power systems.
The advantages
1. When the power system is running, the composite suspension insulator can effectively insulate the conductor from the tower, prevent current leakage, and ensure the normal operation of the power system.
2. The composite suspension insulator has good mechanical strength and electrical properties, can withstand the voltage level of the power system, and ensure the safe operation of the power system.
3. The silicone rubber jacket of the suspension composite insulator has good weather resistance and aging resistance, and can work stably for a long time in various harsh environments.
4. The interface between the core rod and the jacket of the composite suspension insulator has good adhesion, which can effectively prevent the intrusion of moisture and pollutants and ensure the insulation performance of the power system.
Why are suspension insulators used on high voltage cables?
A major advantage of suspension insulators is their ability to withstand higher voltages while providing robust mechanical strength. When multiple units are arranged in series, the overall flashover voltage also increases. Thus, the insulator can support voltages ranging from 33kV to several hundred kV.
The application
Currently, my country's highest voltage level composite suspension insulators for AC applications is 1000kV, which has been successfully tested and put into operation. DC products with a maximum voltage level of ±800kV have also been put into operation in the Yun-Guang ±800kV DC transmission projects and the Xiang-Shang ±800kV DC transmission projects. These are the highest voltage level suspension composite insulators commercially operating in the world. The 110kV composite insulators produced by Guangzhou Mikelin Company were put into operation on the Jiajing line at an altitude of 4300m in June 2000 and have been in operation for 17 years. This is unique in the world. Currently, many manufacturers have passed technical appraisal for ±1100kV composite suspension series products, with the highest strength reaching 1000kN.
Based on the above analysis, my country's overall technical level of composite insulators is currently at a leading level in the world.
