Why are pin insulators not used above 33kV?
Pin insulators are commonly used in power distribution systems for voltages up to 33 kV. These Polymer Pin Insulators become uneconomical for applications above this voltage level. These Silicone Rubber Pin insulators are mounted on the cross arms of supporting structures. At the top, they feature grooves designed to hold and secure the conductor in place.
