Products Description

The puncture-type structure of the composite pin insulator enables it to pierce through the conductor's insulation within the inline slot, thereby establishing an electrical connection. The specially designed arc-initiating fork is firmly attached to the top of the insulator, while its opposite end functions as the discharge terminal. Together with the grounding electrode installed at the lower end of the insulator, it forms a discharge gap. An insulating cover is applied to all exposed components at the upper end, leaving only the discharge tip of the arcing fork uncovered.
Under normal operating conditions, the discharge gap remains inactive. Breakdown of the gap between the arcing fork and the grounding electrode occurs only when lightning overvoltage surpasses the specified threshold. Once this happens, a power-frequency arc is triggered at the arcing fork on the conductor side, dissipating the surge energy and preventing damage to the conductor by diverting the overvoltage
