2. Structure and performance
Composite insulators are composed of silicone rubber umbrella skirt, epoxy resin glass fiber pulling rod (referred to as mandel rod), silicone rubber sheath, metal end accessories, uniform pressure ring and other five parts. It has the following properties:
1) Silicone rubber skirt
Silicone rubber umbrella skirt is made of silicone rubber as the matrix of high polymer umbrella skirt; The silicone rubber sheath, which is directly adhered to the mandrel after high temperature vulcanization, plays the role of protecting the mandrel, shielding rain and snow, increasing the creepage distance and improving the external insulation performance. It has good hydrophobicity and excellent electrical insulation, corrosion resistance and aging resistance, so it has high pollution lightning pressure. The minimum pollution lightning voltage of composite insulators with insulation distance of 1m can still reach 140kV under the condition of equivalent salt density of 0.6mg/cm2 and ash density of 1.0mg /cm2 (equivalent to pollution above 1V level), which is 3-4 times that of porcelain insulator string under the same condition. The umbrella skirt also has excellent corrosion resistance. After 1000h electrocorrosion test, there is no corrosion trace on the surface of the umbrella skirt. The creepage trace resistance test reached level 6-7, ranking the international advanced level. After 5000h artificial accelerated aging test, its mechanical and electrical properties did not change significantly, proving that the skirt has good anti-oxygen, anti-ozone and anti-aging properties. Due to the three-dimensional network structure formed by si-o bond of the main chain of the silicone rubber umbrella skirt material formed by high temperature vulcanization, its chemical properties are very stable and there is no saturated bond in its organic side group. So that it has very excellent resistance to atmospheric ultraviolet radiation, ozone and electric resistance, heat aging and chemical corrosion resistance.
2) Mandrel
The mandrel is made of epoxy resin impregnated glass fiber, which is the skeleton of the whole composite insulator. It plays multiple roles, such as supporting the skirt, the end gold, the inner insulation, and bearing the mechanical load of bending and stretching. It is made of 5 ~ 10µm alkali free glass wire, arranged along the loading direction, and bonded together by thermosetting resin through extrusion and drawing. In a Φ18 mandrel, there are more than one million of this kind of glass fiber wire, so it has very high tensile strength (more than 600Mpa); It is about 1.5 ~ 2 times that of ordinary steel, 3 ~ 4 times that of high quality steel, and 3 ~ 5 times that of high strength porcelain. The composite insulator with mechanical load of 100 tons can be made by using the mand-rod with Φ50mm, which creates conditions for the development of the transmission line to ultra-high pressure and large tonnage. In addition, the mandrel has good vibration damping, creep resistance, bending fatigue fracture resistance and impact resistance. 3) Metal end accessories
The connection between the metal end accessories and the mandrel adopts the crimping structure. It uses the large tonnage crimping machine to make the metal end and the mandrel produce elastic deformation to prevent the mandrel displacement. The processing is simple, the automation program is high, the strength dispersion is small, the stability and reliability can effectively ensure the product quality, and it has been widely used in foreign countries. With novel structure, firm connection, safe and reliable, it plays the role of electrode hanging wire suspension at both ends, transfer tension load and so on.
4) Performance
Windproof offset composite insulators are small in size, light in weight (1/7-1/10 of the porcelain insulator string) and have good elasticity. They do not need to measure zero value and do not need regular cleaning. 4. Installation Method
1) In the transportation and installation of windproof composite insulators, they should be handled gently, not thrown, and avoid collision and friction with various miscellaneous parts (wires, iron plates, tools, etc.) and sharp objects;
2) When lifting, the knot should be tied on the end accessories, and it is strictly forbidden to tie on the umbrella skirt or sheath. When the rope must touch the umbrella skirt and sheath, it should be wrapped with soft cloth in the contact part;
3) The windproof composite insulator shall not be used as an auxiliary tool to release (retract) the wire, so as not to damage the insulator by impact force or bending moment;
4) Do not step on the insulator skirt;
5) When installing the voltage equalization ring, attention should be paid to adjusting the ring to make it perpendicular to the axis of Valin insulator. For the open mouth type c voltage equalization ring, attention should be paid to the two ends of the opening direction to facilitate discharge and protect the umbrella skirt;
