24kV Polymer Guy Strain Insulators
Products Description
Composite guy wire insulators (also known as stay insulators) are insulating tension components made of composite materials (FRP core rod + silicone rubber sheath) and installed on guy wires of utility poles. Their function is to isolate the guy wire from the ground/tower potential, withstand guy wire tension, and prevent electric shock and stray current.
Structure (Three Parts)
Core: Fiberglass reinforced epoxy resin (FRP/GRP), with extremely high tensile strength (approximately 1.5–2 times that of steel), bearing all mechanical tensile forces.
Housing/Sheds:High-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (HTV), providing external insulation, creepage distance, hydrophobicity, flashover protection, aging resistance, and UV protection.
End Fittings:Hot-dip galvanized forged steel/cast steel, crimped/glued for fixing, connecting guy wires to the tower and transmitting tension.
Core Functions:
Electrical Isolation: Divides the guy wire into two sections, preventing fault current from flowing to the ground along the guy wire, thus avoiding energized towers and electric shock to personnel.
Mechanical Tension Resistance: Withstands the full tension of the guy wire (commonly 16k–36k lb level), replacing traditional porcelain/glass guy wire insulators.
Safety Isolation: The guy wire is not energized during normal operation; it can be disconnected during maintenance to ensure personnel safety.
Compared to traditional porcelain/glass guy wire insulators (composite advantages):
Extremely lightweight: Approximately 1/8–1/10 the weight of porcelain, facilitating easy transportation and installation.
Higher strength: FRP core rods have significantly higher tensile strength than porcelain, are less prone to brittle fracture, and offer excellent impact and vibration resistance.
Stronger anti-pollution flashover protection: Silicone rubber has excellent hydrophobicity, resulting in a 30%–50% higher flashover voltage than porcelain, making it more durable in heavily polluted areas.
Maintenance-free: No need for regular cleaning or zero-value testing, long lifespan (20–30 years).
Small size: Compact structure, suitable for narrow spaces and compact wiring.
Mnimum thickness of the galvanization:86μm.

Composite tie rod insulator = FRP high-strength core rod + silicone rubber weather-resistant sheath + galvanized steel fittings. Installed on the guy wire of the utility pole, it is both insulating and tensile-resistant, lightweight and strong, and maintenance-free. It is an upgraded replacement product for traditional porcelain guy wire insulators.
