Creepage Distance

The shortest distance or the sum of the shortest distances along the surfaces of the conductive parts of an insulator under normal operating voltage.

Note 1: Cement or other non-insulating adhesive surfaces are not included in the creepage distance.

Note 2: If a high-resistance layer is applied to the insulating parts of the insulator, the insulating parts are considered effective insulating surfaces, and the distance from these surfaces is included in the creepage distance.

Arcing Distance

The shortest distance in external space between two metallic parts of an insulator under normal operating voltage.
