Organic composite synthetic insulator is a new type of line insulator made of organic polymer insulation as the main insulating material. It is mainly composed of three parts: core rod, shed (shed skirt and sheath), and hardware (end accessories). Its notable feature is that different materials are selected to meet the requirements of the mechanical and electrical performance of the insulator. The core rod mainly bears the mechanical load and acts as internal insulation. The shed skirt and sheath bear and protect the core rod from atmospheric erosion, while providing the necessary creepage distance and pollution flashover and wet flashover performance. The function of the hardware is to transfer mechanical loads and connect wires.
